Religious Services Mission
The Islamic Center of Southern California is committed to fulfilling the
spiritual and religious needs of its Muslim community by educating its
members about their religious rites and providing high quality religious
services encompassing all aspects of Islamic spirituality and worship
(prayers, fasting and Hajj).
Services
The Center is
committed to providing the following religious and educational services
-
Daily Prayer: The Center is open daily for all five prayers.
Regular
business hours are from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. everyday except
Saturday. To accommodate the three prayers beyond the regular business
hours (Fajr, Maghrib, and Isha'a), the Center opens 15 minutes prior to
prayer and closes 15 minutes after prayer.
-
Friday Prayers: Friday prayers (luma' a) are provided on a weekly basis
throughout the year. Prominent religious speakers, scholars and leaders
of our community regularly provide the Friday sermon (Khutba) and lead
the prayer. The Friday prayer begins with the Khutba at 1 :00 p.m. and
concludes with the prayer at 1:30 p.m.
-
Eid Celebrations: The Center provides annual celebrations commemorating
the two Islamic Eids (Eid ul-Adha and Eid ulFitr). The celebration
starts with the Eid prayer followed by the sermon, and concludes with a
carnival with games and fun activities for children and their families.
-
Ramadan Program: The Ramadan Program is the highlight of the Center's
spiritual and religious activities. The Center offers daily gatherings
for Iftar in the Social Hall, followed by Maghrib prayer, Quranic
recitations, religious sermon, and concluded with Isha'a and Taraweeh
prayers.
-
Hajj Program: The Center organizes an annual Hajj trip for interested members of our community. The Center organizes and coordinates the airfare, visas and accommodations for the participants. The Center also
provides religious guidance and spiritual leadership before and during the trip.
-
Sunday Program: The Center offers its members and visitors a variety of
lectures and educational seminars on Sundays. The Sunday Program starts
at 10:00 a.m. with the Introduction to Islam session designed for new
Muslims to address their questions and concerns. The Quranic Study
session (Tafseer) starts at 11:15 a.m. The Sunday Lecture follows the
Quranic Study session and starts at noon. The Sunday Lecture typically
addresses Islamic topics of contemporary, historical and educational
issues affecting the Muslim Ummah in general and American Muslims in
particular. The program concludes at 1 :00 p.m. with Dhuhr prayer.
