Sunday Program Lecture 12:00 PM - Gender Justice in Islam: Status of Women -- Speaker: Prof. Hamid Mavani - Muslim women have been stereotyped as having been disempowered by their religion such that they have no personal identity or moral agency. They are consigned to an inferior status in the articulation of Islamic law because, it is argued, they are deficient in intelligence and faith. This dialogical lecture will examine the validity of such claims by resorting to the foundational sources of Islam: The Qur’an and the sunnah.
